I want to express my deepest gratitude to the teachers, friends, herbalists, and mentors who by grace, came into my path and reflected the light of truth, wisdom & knowledge to brighten my path and blew winds in my sail.
Herbalism is an important study and profession. Herbalist Day, sometimes referred to as "Thank a Herbalist Day", is a celebration and awareness of the importance of herbs and herbalists in our lives. According to the Herbal Academy, this day is a "celebration of the many teachers, peers and herbs that have guided us through our journey as an herbalist thus far".
Hippocrates (460-377 B.C.), who used many of the herbal medicines we strive to provide through The Apothecary Egypt, lamented, “Life is short, and the art long; the occasion fleeting; experience fallacious; and judgment difficult.” Herbal remedies have become a major component of Modern Health Care. Botanicals like ginseng, nettle, St. John’s wort, and valerian are now household words throughout the world, and the awareness of herbal medicine and herbalism is increasing exponentially.
I encourage you to do two things today. First if you know an herbalist (doesn’t have to be a professional certified herbalist), anyone in your life that is passionate about herbalism, plant medicine, botany, and the study of plants. Thank them for all that they do!
Secondly, spend some time today learning more about herbs, and how they can be used to make your life a better one.
Begin a quest to seek the herb that you resonate most with. For me it was simply the combination of Boswellia sacra & commiphora myrrha. I enjoy turning off all electronics, lights and lighting candles around the house and burning these two resins while listening to the chanting of Gregorian monks!
Before you go, I want to warmly say “Thank You” from the bottom of my heart, for the wonderful people who have supported and encouraged our work at The Apothecary Egypt.
"Let all that you do be done in love."
