Story Time 🙂
A few years ago I used to go to a small herbal shop in downtown Toronto, owned by a wonderful herbalist called Helen who taught me so much. One morning she received a shipment of this beautiful yellow orange flower. She asked me to get it as she was going to prepare a herbal tea formula for me to assist the healing of the digestive tract. She taught me more about it and how it is one of the most effective skin healing and repairing herbs on earth. The skin cells are very similar to the cells lining the digestive tract, so she used this flower in all her herbal tea formulas with great success for those dealing with digestive dis-eases. The wonderful moment was looking at country of origin on the package she received and reading “Country of Origin: Egypt”. When I came back to Egypt, it was my goal to find the source of this beautiful Calendula and meet the growers who cultivate and harvest this herb. Fayyoum is where Calendula grows today in Egypt and is exported all over the world. I obtain it from them immediately after harvest season, package in our food grade locked containers and store it in our refrigerated facility to maintain freshness and potency. I infuse the flowers in extra virgin olive oil the traditional method as done by herbalists for generation with a few tricks that Helen taught to extract even more of the powerful medicinal constituents of the herb, the infused oil then becomes part of our skin food salve.
